School Mailbag
Some letters we have received this school year reveal that in the short time our school has been open, we are already seeing students feeling better about themselves, exhibiting signs of positive character development, and achieving academic success. Let's take a closer look!
It's Nice to Come to School
In a letter to the Commandant, or head of the school, an 8th-grade Cadet described the improvement APA has made in her grades and her self-esteem. School hasn't always gone well for her. In her previous public school, classes were over-crowded and unorganized.
Dear Commandant,
Thank you so much for accepting me into the Academy. It has made me a much stronger and wiser person. I love everyone here so much. I look at you as a second father. I couldn't begin to tell you how nice it is to come to school and have my teachers care about me.
Last year, my grades were really bad at my other school. Yesterday, when I brought my mid-term home, my parents were so proud of me and my good grades. It's been a long time since I've felt as proud of myself as I do today.
You have been an amazing Commandant, and I could never thank you enough.
Sincerely,
APA 8th grade student
An Amazing Transformation
In another letter, a grandparent of one of our 7th-grade Cadets tells of the change she has seen in her granddaughter in just three short months.
Dear APA,
I would like to thank all of you for the difference you have made in my granddaughter's life. It is absolutely amazing to me the transformation that has taken place in her. She has changed from a complacent, struggling student to a focused, goal-oriented student striving for the best grades possible. Our family feels very blessed that she was accepted to be among the first students attending APA.
Aside from much better grades, she is achieving a sense of pride and self-worth and also feels pride in APA and what it stands for. She truly feels like a special person.
Her dad checks her grades every evening. She definitely has her sights set on success — her rise in test scores attest to that!
Thank you all for your dedication to helping all the students meet their goals and also become productive, principled citizens.
Sincerely,
Grandparent of APA student
