Archery

We are proud to announce the addition of archery to our athletics department. Our archery program is headed by Coach Al DeGies, who is a state and nationally certified archery instuctor for the National Archery in the Schools Program. The program promotes student education, physical education and participation in the life-long sport of archery. It covers archery history, safety, technique, equipment, mental concentration, core-strengthening physical fitness and self-improvement.

Coach DeGies will conduct archery instruction throughout the entire school year, including summer programs. For students who wish to participate during the school year only, we will incorporate the archery program into the students’ physical education classes.

For students who wish to take archery to the next level, there is an opportunity to compete in the state tournament held every April. Tournament-level competition requires practice, practice, practice so that archers can perfect the 11 points of shooting before entering the tournament.
