After everyone left for the end-of the-year holiday, I still had some work to do as Dean of Cadets. My discipline report contains the following information: There were approximately 140 cadets with no discipline referrals nor demerits. There were many students who earned all “A”s.The vast majority of our cadets passed ISTEP+ and many of them passed both sections with Pass Plus status.By now, all of our cadets should be saying “Yes ma’am, and no sir” at home as well as holding doors open as well as other curtsies.  If not, ask them why not?Thank you for the hard work and support we have received.

GRADE 7 PRE-ALGEBRA

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We continue on Lesson 3.4 with solving inequalities.  Homework for tonight is on workbook pages 37 & 38.  Cadets are to do all of page 37 and

#'s 15, 18, 21 and 24 on page 38.

Something new this semester is that all cadets will be placing all homework in a folder for just PRE-ALGEBRA class and on a grade sheet keeping track of his/her grade.  All graded assignments will be written down on the grade sheet so when a cadet does not turn in the homework and gets a "0" he/she will know the missing assignment.  The cadet will keep a running total of points and will always know his/her grade in the class.

I may take a "Materials and Notebook Check" grade.  I will be looking to see that the cadet has ALL materials in class along with an up to date grade sheet.

  • textbook
  • organized homework folder/notebook
  • homework
  • pencil with eraser
  • colored pencils
  • calculator
  • 12 inch ruler
  • protractor

Please check to see that your cadet has all materials!

Have a great evening!

Mrs. Wilson

We will begin second semester by looking at the Industrial Revolution and how it influenced our young nation.  I will also pass out the syllabus for the first six weeks.  I am going to attach it to this post. The document is compatible with windows 97-2003.  Your child will also have to have you to sign it and bring it back on Tuesday.  As you look over the syllabus, you may notice that your child will be taking a six weeks final.  It will cover all of the material disucssed during the grading period.  It will be part take home essay and part multiple guess and short answer.  Please make sure they are reading every night.  Thanks.

PHYSICAL SCIENCE

Welcome Back

A few changes, let's hit the ground running. Be ready, come with your notebooks. Every class will be responsible for taking notes and keeping those notes intact for grading. We will also have a word of a week that a student will have to research and explain later on the Friday quiz.

Jan 5th word is generator. Keep in mind, we are currently working on electricty and magnetism.

Alpha and Delta have finished their research papers. Great Job! If for any reason a student did not complete a research paper, he or she received a zero. I lengthened the time to eight weeks including Christmas break for my late students, although they automatically lost one grade for lateness. Almost everyone turned in their paper. Although, some were last minute efforts. Keep in mind, another paper will be started in April after ISTEP. Those who did well this time should have no problem next time. Those who didn't do so well, might want to kick it up a notch.

I have also installed two small whiteboards--one outside the room to alert students what books they need. The students must come to class with the right books. They will not be allowed to go back to their lockers for appropriate materials.  Another inside the front of the room for assignment deadlines. If a student can't see the board I need to know. If a student is pursuing other activities in class, perhaps reading the latest book in the Twilight series, I will collect it. It's a new semester and we will be moving faster and working harder.

Vocab Words to Know: magnetism, magnetic poles, magnetic fields, electromagnetism, electromagnet
