How do I open .docx files?

How do I open .docx files?

Microsoft introduced the .docx file format in its new Office 2007 applications to replace the commonly used .doc format.  Office 2007 is the application we use here at APA.  The problem with the change from .doc to .docx is that many users are either working with prior versions of Word or do not have Word installed.

There is an easy (and free) solution!

With Microsoft Word Viewer and the Microsoft Compatibility Pack, you can view, print, and copy document contents to another program. However, you cannot edit an open document, save a document, or create a new document.

For more information, and to download, click the links below to visit Microsoft's download page.  Save both .exe files to your Desktop, and double-click each to begin the installation.

  • Microsoft Word Viewer
View, print and copy Word documents, even if you don't have Word installed.

  • Microsoft Compatibility Pack
View, print and modify Word documents, if you use an older version of Microsoft Word. Provides compatibility with all document types in Word Viewer.

Good luck!

7th Grade Health

Today in class we started Chapter 3 in the Health book.  We had a discussion over stress, what causes it, and some of the stress in students lives.  After our discussions students were to complete the first 5 questions on the section 1 review. If students could not complete this in time, they were to return to my class during study hall to complete their work.

Everyday in my health class students are to bring their spiral notebook which is considered their journal.  Starting on Wednesday, if students do not bring their journal they will receive a demeritt.  I do not give any homework in this class, therefore their journal acts as their homework.

We will start Chapter 3, section 2 on Wednesday.

6th Grade Social Studies

Alpha/Bravo Flights

Today we began discussing the beginning of early civilizations.  There is no homework in Bravo except for those who need to finish their crosswords.  Most Alpha students have traded their crosswords and are to be completed by tomorrow.

 Charlie/Delta Flights

Today we began Chapter 3 over the US & Canada.  Students are to finish reading for homework if they did not complete it in class.  Also, complete section 3.1 review which is on page 74 and sum up the regions on page 72 by writing their answers in their compositions. Lastly, students have a crossword to complete that consists of ten vocabulary words.  Students had all period to work on this along with study hall, so there is no reason for them not to have a good portion of this already done.

Cross Words--If there is a mistake that a student has made, I have asked another student to write what the mistakes are on the back and then sign their name. No credit will be taken off of the person who completes the crossword because of these mistakes--credit will only be taken off of the person who created the crossword.
