SSC Friday Jan 30

Students took their spelling tests today.

Science and Social Studies:  Next week we will be constructing plans for our science and social studies projects.  Today, all Group 3 students started to think of a list of possible topics.

We will be creating portfolios that will include critical thinking activities, computer based Indiana Standards content, math, and language arts writing skills.  Each small piece of the projects will count as a classwork grade.  Look for more details on Monday and Tuesday.

Have a great weekend.

The SSC Staff:  Mrs. Phillips (SSC Coordinator), Mr. Hayden (Admin), Mrs. Heckard (Tutor), Mrs. Shively (Parent Volunteer)

8th Grade Science

Dr. Maxfield is posting the Science Blogs for me, since my computer has not blogged since before Thanksgiving.  Please pay attention because I will try to cram everything into one blog. Please note attachments also. Alpha, Bravo, Charlie & Delta will have a short quiz on 1.1 on Friday. Bravo is working on their research paper which the final draft will be due on February 13.Last week, they wrote the introductory paragraph, some did anyhow. This week the body paragraphs are due/Friday. ( See example attachment if you have questions.) I will check the papers and hand them back with corrections needed. Next Friday: the final concluding paragraph will be due. I will put up that attachment as soon as I write it. ALPHA has started working on a music video project for science because we are studying both sound and light waves. We need a camcorder if anyone has one we can use. Most of the work will done at home and will be due on February 16 for viewing & grading purposes. Delta will start on their music videos next week. Charlie will start on their research paper on the 16th. Start thinking about which scientist you would like to research. ELECTIVE ART APPRECIATIONThose who are in art appreciation. I will need clean white t-shirts for tie dying by February 10th, no shirt, no tie dying.
