APA to test Reverse Emergency System

We are just about finished setting up our Reverse Emergency System.  We expect to test the system sometime during the next two weeks.  If you signed up to be on the list, you will be receiving either a phone call, email, or text message about the test.  It is still not too late to sign up for the system is you desire.   Just contact our technology director, Lt. Thompson, for further information.

Civil Air Patrol Encampment

A week long encampment for selected 7th, 8th and 9th grade cadets will be held the week of 4 April at Camp Atterbury located south of Indianapolis.  This will be a resident course where the cadets spend the entire time at the National Guard/ Reserve training base.  The objective of the encampment is to provide leadership training for our APA cadets to better prepare them to meet their roles as members of the cadet corps and the commmunity.  There will be a cost of $120 per cadet for the encampment.  Additionally, they will need to have at least two pair of complete BDU uniforms and one for the shortsleeve blue uniforms.  We will do our best to provide the BDU and boots but I can not guarantee that we can outfit all of the 80 cadet with two sets.  Therefore, it would be wise to start preparing to get the full second set of BDU including the name tapes, patches, etc.  Additionally, each of the cadets will have to have shoes acceptable for the blue uniforms.  That will be a rounded black shoe with a smooth toe and no seams or buckles or designs etc.  Please take a look at the web site for the Hock Shop www.thehock.com to see what the shoe type looks like.  You can get these at www.sears.com less expensive that most places.  These type of shoes will be mandatory for the fall so I would suggest getting a head start on that for the fall start time.

This will be an exciting event for the cadets, but there is a great deal of planning and preparation that must go into this and it must start now.  Selection will be announced the first week of January so more at that time.  If you do have any questions, please feel to call.  Thanks.

Grade 8 ALGEBRA

Today I handed back the Chapter 4 Test.  Tomorrow's schedule only allows me to meet with Alpha, Bravo and Charlie - so I gave Delta an extra credit assignment to work on at home, they are to complete and give it to me tomorrow morning.  Only cadets who have all missing assignments turned in will be able to have the extra credit graded and added to their test grade!  Homework from yesterday was collected for a grade.  I will also be working on the participation grades too.

Have a nice evening!

Grade 7 Pre-Algebra ALPHA and BRAVO

Some cadets in groups presented the problems from yesterday with the cereal, marshmallow treats, pop tarts, and/or gum to the class.  We reviewed concepts of Volume and Surface Area along with measuring in centimeters.  I collected the diagrams and problems for a grade.  Also I will be working on their participation grade for the 6 weeks.  Tomorrow's schedule does allow me to teach both 7th grades and I plan to do an extra credit to add to the test grade.  Only cadets who have all missing assignments turned in will have the extra credit graded and added on to the test grade!

Have a nice evening!
