Grade 8 ALGEBRA

Lesson 8.3 Practice C (odds) was the homework over the weekend.  Most cadets are still having trouble on the problems.  The evens were assigned also.  There will be a TEST on Lessons 8.1, 8.2, 8.3 on Friday and that assignment (odds and evens) will be turned in before the test.  All week cadets should be looking over the quiz, assignments passed back, and the Chapter Review on pages 494-495 in the text to study for the test.  ALSO I will be giving the cadets an assignment that works with base ten blocks and sketching 2 digits x 2 digits problems like 14 x 24.  It is called the array model and it will lead us into using the algebra tiles when we do a problem like (x - 2) (x + 3).

Because of ISTEP testing in the mornings on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, I will not have 8 Bravo and 8 Alpha for 2 classes.  I will get them the new problems to try and have examples and they will need to catch up during study hall and/or at home. They will have time on Thursday during the ISTEP testing time when 6th and 7th grade are still testing.   Also I will have the problems during tutoring Tuesday to help them to understand the concept.

Grade 7 Pre-Algebra (Alpha and Bravo)

Today cadets handed in the slope assignment: when given the slope and a point on the line - graph the line.  We also reviewed vocabulary along with problems for ISTEP.  Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be the testing days for 7th grade.  All testing will be in the morning so I will have 7 Alpha for only one of the three days for class.  I will have 7 Bravo all three days.  We will continue with percent problems this week.  7 alpha and 7 bravo will be given the same problems to practice.  7 alpha will need to catch up during study hall or at home.

Get plenty of sleep and eat a good breakfast too!
