Art- Station 8 DO NOT WRITE ON THIS COPY! In this station, you will be doing an art activity of your choice that is focused on The House of Dies Drear. Choose ONE of these, and make sure that you take your time. Choice One (1)Review the description of the Drear house in Chapter and then draw plans and sketch or build model houses that incorporate some or all of the architectural elements described, such as verandahs, mansard roofs, and dormer windows.   Choice Two(2)Sketch the exterior of the Drear house and its surrounding landscape to draw floor plans for the house that show the secret pagssages. Choice Three(3)Map one or more of the following: the major routes of the Underground Railroad to northern states and to Canada; Underground Railroad routes, or segments or routes, in your state or local area; the route the Small family may have taken from North Carolina to Ohio. Choice Four (4)Create a mystery board game in which players try to acquire information and find the treasure of Dies Drear.  The game board may be designed to include the rooms, secret passages, and cavern of the Drear house.  One possible way to advance game markers would be to have players answer questions drawn from the events of the novel. Choice Five (5)Write an advertisement offering the house of Dies Drear for sale.  In you ad, describe the attractions of the house, including details drawn from the novel.  Be as persuasive as possible.  Create your own realty company and design what the logo of the company would look like.  You would also want to put pictures of the house in the advertisement.  (You will need to sketch these.)
