Math tutoring will begin after break.  Students who have signed up will know their times.  If you signed for your child to be here before school or to be tutored afterschool, please make sure your student is dropped off and picked up at the right time.  I will post a schedule soon.

Today, we talked more about the project that is due on Sept. 10 (see attachment).  We, also, started chapter 2.

No homework today. :) EXCEPT 5th period:  pg 50 1-15

7th Grade

If students got below a B on their Addition/Subtraction Integer quiz, they were supposed to take it home and fix it.  Also, students had a w/s to do in class over adding and subtracting integers.  If students did not finish in class, it is homework.  They are doing all the odd numbers on both sides.

Test tomorrow--over Ch. 1

Today in class we either played jeopardy or did our review sheet.  IF students chose to play jeopardy, they have a review sheet for homework.  If students chose to work on the review sheet in class, some may not have this as homework.

Practice problems to help study for test:  pages 44-47 all (This is optional! Students do not have to do these.  These are more practice problems students can do to get ready for their test tomorrow.)

7th Grade

We worked on multiplying and dividing integers in class today.  Students had the majority of their class time to get their work done.  Some students may have this completed.

Homework:  pg. 44-46 (2-50 even)

We are starting equations today!

Homework  pg 27- (#1,2,3--a lot of students did this in class), pg. 28 (#2,3,4), p.29 (#12,13,14)

Project:

Students are doing a project over Patterns.  They need to find three patterns (can be outside, in the house, at a store, anywhere BUT the computer or math book), and then they have to write an essay over the patterns.

paragraph one: introduction,

paragraph two: about pattern one (include what type of pattern (look on pg. 5 and 6 in book), describe the pattern, and tell its location)

paragraph three: same as paragraph two but write about pattern two

paragraph four:  same as paragraph two but write about pattern three.

paragraph five:  conclusion

Also, students need a visual to go with their paper.  On their poster, they should include pictures of their pattern with descriptions.  Pictures can be taken with a camera or hand drawn (use color pencil--make it colorful).

Projects due September 10, 2010

7th Grade:

Place Value

Homework:  students are only doing the bottom of the sheet that we started in class.  All they have to do is write out the number in words.

Use this to help:

Students may have a hard time with this.  This is a hard concept for many students.  We will work on this in class tomorrow, too.
