CAP Activities

As of Wednesday, 16 Sep all of the promotions are current.  The first class day after the break, we will take our class time to allow cadets to take the next promotion test that is applicable for them. Cadets new to APA this year should be concentrating on Chaper one and two in the Leadership Book.  This will give them their first promotion and part of their second one.  Once the leadership tests are completed, then the new cadets should start through the Aerospace booklets Volumes 1 and 2.  Those returning students should be starting on Ch 3 and reviewing the first three chapters of the Leadership book for the comprehensive exam to get their Staff Sergeant promotion.

REMEMBER THAT 25% OF THEIR GRADE IS ONE PROMOTION PER SEMESTER.

We gave each of the cadets a promotion progress chart at the start of school which outlines the things that they must do for promotions.  If there are any questions please consult the chart or giveus a call.

The cadets are working on their drill and ceremony proficiency in order to be prepared for the parade to be held at the OPEN HOUSE on Sept 24th.  Please encourage the cadets to practice a bit on their own. We will need to have all of the cadets present for the Open House.

New cadet officers, flight and group commanders, flight sergeants and element leaders have been selected to lead the cadet corp. They are  now in place and we expect a lot of activity to generate from their efforts.  These positions will require either early or after school meetings, so please be patient with the schedule fluxations.

We are still seeing some uniform issues.  Please ensure that your cadet gets these resolved in the next 10 days.  They are responsible for bringing issues to our attention.  We will do our best to get everyone properly fitted.  Thanks for your assistance.

CAP UNIFORM RETURN

At the end of each school year, the CAP uniforms are to be turned in for storage over the summer at the Academy.  Beginning on 18 May, (Monday) we will start the uniform collection process during the cadets CAP class periods.  At that time, the cadets will be required to bring their uniform to school freshly washed and ironed on a hangar.  The things that they will be accountable for will be the Air Force blue shirt and pants, blue Air Force belt and buckle, Uniform hat, and collar insignia, either/or the rank or CAP insignia, which ever is appropriate.  This process will be completed not later than the 21st of MAy for the 6th and 7th grades.  8th grade cadets must do this turn in on Friday 22 May the next school day after graduation ceremonies.  For those uniform items that are missing or damaged beyond reasonable wear, the charges will be added to the activity fees for the next school year.

Your cooperation will be appreciated

PRECAUTIONS AT ANDERSON PREP

SWINE FLU Memo: To all students, Parents, Faculty & Staff:

From: Robert Guillaume, Commandant

April 30, 2009

Everyone is aware of the national and state concerns that have developed over the Swine Flu influence in our country.  Across the nation several schools have closed.  Our state has asked that everyone take precautions such as:

·        Washing hands regularly ·        Do not shake hands·        Do not share drinks, food, etc.·        Be concerned about travel, large gatherings, etc.

Our school is taking what we believe are the appropriate steps to assure our students complete their required state testing, classroom assignments, and the remainder of the school year.  Thus, we are making the following changes to our school’s schedule of events.

·        The Science Fair will be moved from a Saturday, May 2, 2009 event to an in-school event during study hall on Tuesday, May 5 for 6th grade; Wednesday, May 6 for 7th grade; and Thursday, May 7 for 8th grade.

·        All out-of-town field trips have been canceled at this time.

This situation is something very much out of our control.  I have been advised by a medical doctor to take this seriously.  I appreciate your understanding.

R. Guillaume, Commandant

ATTENTION ALL PARENTS! CHARTER SCHOOL ACTION NEEDED...

Dear Parent/Guardian of a Public Charter School Student:

Early this week, the Indiana Senate will vote on a bill that will treat charter school students equal to other public school students in terms of funding.  A moment of your time could mean the difference between success or failure of this effort!  SB 227 could bring additional money for facilities, special education, and technology to your charter school.  Every extra dollar the legislature makes available for charter schools means more money that can go into the classroom.

We have provided the link below so you can easily email this message to your legislator. It only takes a few contacts from constituents to get a senator to support a bill. I can assure you that anti-charter forces will be organized to kill this bill, but I am confident that if most of the parents who receive this message act, this bill will pass the Senate.

To contact your senator, click here and follow the simple directions: http://capwiz.com/publiccharters/issues/alert/?alertid=12674861

Thank you, and please feel free to contact the Indiana Public Charter Schools Association at 317-972-5880 if you have any questions. Remember, it may only take a couple emails from constituents to get a legislator's attention, so your action on this issue is critical.

Thank you,

Russ Simnick
