Class Work for the week of 12/07/09

Last Tuesday I went over all missing assignments with each student individually, offering additional help if needed.  I informed all students that missing assignments will be entered into the gradebook as a "0" on Friday 12/04/09.  I also discussed with the students that "0" entered into the gradebook will lower their grades.

We are currently working on three big projects in our class.  These projects are two part projects, and that the first part should be completed as of 12/04/09.

Social Studies - We are creating a powerpoint presentation based on the state report project that we have been working on the past three weeks, these projects will be presented to class.

Language Arts - We are creating comic strips using proper dialogue.

Math - We are creating a math problem based on the theories of multiplication.  The student will then present their problems to the class for the class to solve.

Science - We are learning the phases of the moon, and are getting ready to preform a science experiment based on what we have learned.

NOVEMBER 12, 2009

Mr. Hayden provided information about the Title 1 program. The purpose of the program is to ensure that all children work to learn challenging state academic standards and have the opportunity to receive help to be successful. Funding comes from federal tax dollars and the amount of funding depends on the economic levels of the community and school.

Cadets are chosen for the program by a system that ranks their test scores and GPA and are taken in order of greatest need. The program is designed to provide math and language arts tutoring in a small group setting, on the computer customized to each student and small group assistance with school assignments that are based on the Indiana academic standards.
