Captain Rasbach graduated from DePauw University with BA in English literature and biology. She later graduated from the University of Oregon with an MA in English and American literature as well as an MA in Teaching through Marian University. She is a proud alumna of The New Teaching Project’s Indianapolis Teaching Fellows program, through which she completed an intensive two-year teaching fellowship. She is certified in 5-12 language arts and is currently pursuing additional areas of licensure. Prior to joining the APA faculty, Captain Rasbach served as a dual-credit English teacher in Indianapolis area high schools for two years. During this time she taught English 12, British literature, senior capstone, college composition, college research and composition, and college literature. Captain Rasbach has also taught composition and literature courses at the University of Oregon and has served as a corporate trainer. At APA, Captain Rasbach currently teaches speech and English 12 as well as dual-credit English courses in composition and literature through Ivy Tech Community College. In previous years, she has also taught English 11. She is a proud co-advisor to APA’s Genders and Sexualities Alliance and is a member of the Academy Academic Improvement Task Force. In her spare time, Captain Rasbach spectacularly fails at maintaining a yoga practice. She enjoys doing handwork, strives to live holistically, and studies all manner of esoterica.
