The learning doesn't stop at the classroom door as Mr. Moore's Advanced Placement World History class took on Chicago in early October. From exploring the campus of the University of Chicago and Navy Pier, to witnessing jousting and dueling at Medieval Times; these students are always ready to learn wherever they may be. #MakeYourDreamsTakeFlight

Last Wednesday, cadets from Walk-A-Thon winning classrooms celebrated their accomplishments! They were treated to pizza, popcorn, and popsicles! We are so grateful to families for banding together and providing opportunities for our cadets to go on more field trips and provide more incentives for our positive behavior CORE Cash Store! Bravo students in Reyes, Bradley and Sorrell’s classes are celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month October 4th. They made tres leche cake, horchata, and ate chips and salsa. #MakeYourDreamsTakeFlight

Last Friday, Academy students travelled to the elementary to showcase their dancing and talk about Hispanic heritage to celebrate and honor Hispanic Heritage Month. The elementary cadets especially loved the dancing at the end. #MakeYourDreamsTakeFlight

With every field trip comes learning that would never have happened in the first place. We'd love to continue providing our AP World History classes with experiential learning outside of the classroom. Our spring trip will take us to Cincinnati to see the Nancy and David Wolf Holocaust and Humanity Center and the Museum of Natural History and Science. We are looking to fundraise for these trips so that more cadets are able to experience the gift of outside-the-box learning. Friday, 10/11, we will be having a car wash in the 29th Street parking lot from 3:30-5:30p. $10 per car and all proceeds will go to our AP World History field trip fund. Thanks for your support! Lt. Moore's Honors World History class displayed their knowledge of math and science to engineer a Roman aqueduct. Built to transport water to ancient Rome, the aqueduct remains an engineering marvel that still finds use today. Despite their best efforts, Mr. Moore's class had to concede that the Romans may have done it better. #MakeYourDreamsTakeFlight

Reminder for our 29th Street Campus: Please note that our parking lot should be considered a one way road for drop off (7:00-7:55a) and dismissal (2:00-3:30p). Families should not be entering our parking lot from Meridian Street during those times. Also, cadets should not be dropped off along Meridian or at Payless.
