Do you remember the first time you went to Conner Prairie? The hot air balloon, the play areas, the treetop outpost?? Anyone??? OR maybe you have never been to Conner Prairie and would love to go?? Our cadets would LOVE to go to Conner Prairie and we're determined to make it happen.

Would you consider donating the milage to Conner Prairie? What about milage there AND back? $25 for 24.9 miles or $50 for 49.8 miles there and back.

We are in the business of making cadets' dreams take flight. We will do anything to help them see the vision, dream big dreams, and take those first steps in our walk-a-thon to making those dreams take flight.

What's special about the APA Elementary Walk-A-Thon?

A lot of things! Our favorite is the opportunity to get our cadets on a school bus! APA does not have school transportation, so for some cadets this is their very first time riding on a school bus. The smiles, giggles, and excitement on the bus going to and from a field trip are indescribable! It's the most fun thing (besides the field trip itself).

Since its beginning in 2013, Community Chefs has been a night of delicious food, lighthearted competition, and most importantly, fundraising for valuable programs out in our community. Men from organizations throughout Madison County come together to don a “celebrity chef” hat for the evening, and attendees are presented with an evening of delicious food and entertainment.

Why do we have a Walk-A-Thon?

It's no surprise that our cadets come from all walks of life (get it??). Not many families have spare change to pay for two field trips a year. Yes! All of our elementary cadets go on two field trips a year. We believe that learning happens in and outside of the classroom! Every place is our classroom. We're excited to provide opportunities for our cadets to get out of Anderson and see what's out there!

APA's Student Service Department is hosting a Fall Festival on Saturday, October 24th, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

All proceeds from the Fall Festival go towards APA's Special Education and Multilingual Learner Program.

Want to sponsor a specific trip or maybe donate in honor of someone? Let us know! We'd love to make that happen for you. Big experiences start with small steps. Walk with us. Help lead us down the path to nurturing inquisitive minds. Those 44 miles to the Indy Zoo opens a world of possibilities to a child who would have never thought that studying their favorite animal could become a full-time job. All cadets K-5 will participate! It's a fun day to enjoy the outdoors and walk with (and for) a purpose! We make sure to have a great time for them during their walk. Teachers in crazy inflatable outfits, chalk, tattoos, bubbles, all of the above.
